| Using Upi Standing Frames in-conjunction with third party table and work surfaces. |
|
Author: Robert Henshaw, Date: 30th January 2006. Before considering using an Upi standing frame without its tray, at a table or other work surface, please be aware of the potential risks. The Upi is designed as a free-standing vertical stander to be used with its own tray independant of other therapy equipment or surfaces. Users with good upperbody and arm strength could conceivably affect the stability of the Upi should they be pushed to a table. A comparison could be made to a toddler strapped into a high chair. If used in isolation with its own tray, the high-chair is stable, but to bring the child and highchair into the proximity of table for family meals etc, given the opportunity the child can push back against the table and tip the high-chair backwards. |
