| Steering and Parental / Carer Control |
|
Also called push/pull rods or steer rods, these are devices which help put the parent or carer in control of the child’s speed and/or direction. Each manufacturer has their own unique system, some more complex than others, although they generally achieve the same goals.
A more recent development is the rear mounted steering control. This type of device is great for some children, especially where hand and/or arm function is limited. Its main disadvantage is that by walking behind the tricycle you can lose the face to face interaction with your child. The Laser and Neon from Draisin can be fitted with a rear steering system for Parents or Carers. In summary, there is no right or wrong solution when it comes to choosing from the above. Each child is unique and has unique requirements so wherever possible try things out before you buy. |
